Powering ahead… Two of Malta Freeport Terminals’ engineering group leaders — Martin Micallef and Stephen Cain (second and third from left) — have just achieved Full High Voltage Authorisation under the leadership of CEO Alex Montebello and Chief Engineering Officer James Alsop. Cain and Micallef successfully completed the Safe Operation of High Voltage Power Systems training, showcasing their comprehensive understanding of both industrial high and low voltage power systems. This programme enables them to perform advanced HV switching operations on industrial networks up to 15kV or 33kV, adhering to Malta Freeport Terminals’ electrical safety rules and regulations. This achievement reflects their dedication, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence in applying their knowledge within an industrial container terminal setting. Their training at the Faraday Centre in Middlesbrough, UK, culminating in a remarkable 100 per cent pass rate, underscores their skill and perseverance. This certification marks a significant milestone in their professional journeys, demonstrating their readiness to tackle complex challenges in engineering, particularly in support of further decarbonisation programmes. Additionally, it will facilitate the implementation of new systems and procedures for electrical safety at #MaltaFreeportTerminals. We extend our heartfelt congratulations!
