#MaltaFreeportTerminals was pleased to welcome H.E. Ambassador Barkin Kayaoğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Malta, for a courtesy visit to the terminal.

Our CEO Alex Montebello provided an overview of the Freeport’s operations and strategic role within regional and global logistics, including current geopolitical dynamics, ongoing developments at Terminal 2, and future investment plans aimed at strengthening capacity and efficiency.

The visit also offered an opportunity to highlight the strong ties between Malta and Türkiye, with 50% of Malta Freeport Terminals’ shareholding held by Yilport Holding Inc., reflecting the importance of Turkish investment in the Freeport’s continued growth.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Can Berk Atasoy, Second Secretary, while Charmaine Felice, Chief Client Officer at Malta Freeport Corporation, also attended the meeting.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the terminal, including a demonstration of the crane simulator, and visited the Terminal 2 development site to gain first-hand insight into the scale of ongoing works.
