The event comes at a critical time for the rapidly evolving maritime industry due to environmental and geopolitical challenges. During his welcome speech, MFT CEO Alex Montebello said bringing together leaders, innovators, and stakeholders in a forum of this nature is a golden opportunity for the maritime and related sectors to address the key strategies, technologies, and solutions required to transform ‘decarbonisation’ into a tangible reality that will benefit the industry and community as a whole. He said: “At Malta Freeport, we have been doing that too, across all our operations, as part of our vision to create and operate a state-of-the-art transhipment hub in the heart of the Mediterranean. We are determined to ensure that we are able not only to meet the demands of today, but that we are also fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.” Speakers include Malta’s Minister for Economy, Enterprise & Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, Malta Freeport Corporation CEO David Magro, Enemalta CEO Ryan Fava, MAERSK Chief Strategy Officer David Samad, and Malta Maritime Forum Chairman Godwin Xerri.

The speakers of Panel B: ‘Ports as future energy hubs? Green Corrisors – the fuel choice, shipping routes or the whole customer journey?’ which was moderated by Anis Ayuob were Malta Maritime Pilots Chief Pilot Terence Farrugia, Digiterre Data Engineering Consultancy Laurence Pisani, Shorelink Levan Chikviladze and MTU Melita Power Marine Marco Hurrle.
