Preparing for the unexpected… Safety and the well-being of our colleagues and partners is a top priority at Malta Freeport Terminals. But to ensure the facility is ready to act promptly when incidents do happen, we conduct simulated emergency exercises in conjunction with Malta’s emergency services. Our latest one presented two distinct scenarios: the recovery of a crane operator by the Civil Protection Department (CPD); and the rescue by the CPD of engineering team member who sustained an injury while undertaking work in the machine house. Our in-house nurse, security, and staff were all actively involved and contributed to the exchange of feedback with the emergency services, who provided valuable insights into how such incidents should be handled. A big thank you goes to all who took part in helping us to refine our emergency protocols and responses, and ensure we are prepared to spring into action when the need arises.
