Malta Freeport Terminals joined organisations around the world in marking World Environment Day 2026 through a series of initiatives that promoted environmental responsibility, biodiversity and community engagement.
Motivated by this year’s theme, ‘Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future’, our colleagues took part in activities that highlighted the importance of protecting the environment and supporting the local community.
Among the highlights was the planting of olive trees, a symbolic and practical contribution towards a greener future. Employees also volunteered at RMJ Horse Rescue, supporting the organisation’s important work in caring for rescued horses. From maintenance and clean-up activities to preparing additional space for horses under the sanctuary’s care, our team was proud to lend a helping hand to a cause that combines environmental stewardship with animal welfare.
We also reached out to the next generation by distributing plants to children attending Birżebbuġa Primary School, encouraging young students to develop a lifelong appreciation for nature and understand how everyday actions can contribute to protecting our planet.
These initiatives reflect Malta Freeport’s commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability, both within our organisation and throughout the wider community, to help build a greener and more sustainable future.
