MFT CEO Alex Montebello amongst the top 10 most impactful CEOs for 2023!
Malta Freeport Termianals CEO Alex Montebello is named by maltaCEOs.mt as one of the top 10 most impactful CEOs in Malta in 2023!
“At the helm of a company critically important to Malta’s economy, 2023 saw CEO Alex Montebello oversee the addition of a new route linking the Mediterranean to India, three new services, sign an agreement to carry out its first terminal expansion in two decades and welcome the largest ever containership to Malta. As supply chain bottlenecks and geopolitical disruption continued to characterise 2023, increasing capacity at Malta’s freeport remains a critical component for Malta’s economy and staving off inflation. In 2022 he was probed by the police over previous dealings with construction magnate Charles Polidano, however the matter was not taken further and he continued to see the company through major milestones.”

First Place – CMA CGM Safety Initiatives Awards 2023
Our safety is placed first.. Malta Freeport Terminals claimed first prize in a Safety Initiative Competition held during the QSSE Seminar at the #CMACGM head office in Marseille, France. Malta Freeport Terminals’ entry, entitled ‘High Wind Procedure’, identified five levels of wind response capable of identifying the optimum point at which port operations should be suspended in adverse weather conditions.
The High Wind Response Strategy means personnel have ample time to wind up operations and evacuate the terminals, thereby minimising risk of injury and equipment damage.

Giving something back is very important to us and we will continue to do this as often as possible. The company wishes to thank all those who collaborate with us, not least the Birzebbuga Local Council with whom we often work hand in hand, as well as our dedicated workforce whose hard work makes it all possible.
