𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁… Being prepared for an incident at our facility is vital, and with this in mind we carried out a full-scale simulation of an emergency situation with the collaboration of Malta’s emergency services and medical personnel. We carefully created two scenarios – an unconscious operator on a Rubber Tyred Gantry crane and an injured worker on a vessel – to put to the test the systems we have in place to react to these instances. Our colleagues treated the event with utmost seriousness and received invaluable feedback from the professionals on site on how protocols and responses could be further improved. The health and safety of everyone at the Freeport is our number one priority, and we’d like to thank all those who took part including the Civil Protection Department, Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Personnel, our in-house nurse and port doctor, Malta Freeport Corporation security personnel, and of course our staff who rose to the occasion and benefitted from this learning experience.
