Digital first… Malta Freeport Terminals Innovation Lead, Hein Chetcuti, told participants at the 2023 Container Terminal Automation Conference (CTAC 2023) that drawing up a clear digitisation roadmap for both internal and external is a crucial component of a successful Freeport terminal operation. Hein explained that the inter-departmental dimension tends to be given little importance in the industry even though there are considerable advantages – not least providing clients with a more efficient service – in including this aspect in day-to-day digital conversations. CTAC 2023, which brought together the world’s leading container terminal operators, featured a mixture of panel discussions on topics including container terminal safety, digitalisation, AI and twin technology.
