The land reclamation project at #MaltaFreeportTerminals continues to move forward with steady progress – with important milestones being reached: Six caissons have been successfully positioned, eight caissons have been fully cast, and casting works for Caisson 9 are well underway.
To support these advances, vibro-flotation works beneath Caissons 5 and 6 stabilised the engineered fill, enabling their safe placement. Additional progress includes placing material behind the caissons and sieving inert material at Terminal One to prepare for the next phases.
This progress has been possible thanks to the commitment of every team involved – from our dedicated colleagues to the highly-experienced contactor – who adhere to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental care.
We are all looking forward to the next phase of this project, which, when completed, will ensure our Freeport will be able to efficiently handle the world’s largest mega container ships for many years to come.
